When it comes to a car window, auto tint can provide numerous advantages to those within the vehicle, all while looking aesthetically pleasing on the outside.  The always-expanding product line among vehicle upgrades has allowed the owners to personalize every detail of the car, including each and every window.  Auto tint is a smart investment to consider and should be installed properly within the legal boundaries.

Whether the film is adhered during the production process or as a future upgrade, such film has extensive benefits that make the initial monetary investment worthwhile.  When applied to a window, auto tint will ultimately reduce extreme temperatures from penetrating through the glass, keeping the interior cool, increasing fuel efficiency, and protecting interior surfaces and belongings from damage.  Additional advantages include an increase in interior security, a glare reduction caused by sunlight and oncoming headlights, and a lessening of the amount of UVA and UVB rays impacting those inside.  This alone helps to reduce the risk of dangerous skin cancers.  Finally, the added shading will certainly add visual appeal to the vehicle’s exterior.

Prior to the purchasing and installation of the product it is important to first decide on the overall look and purpose wanted for the window auto tint.  The shading can be in the range of 5% to 80%, with the higher number indicating a lower amount of shading and a higher level of sunlight allowed inside.  The lower figures specify a higher level of privacy as well as a minimal amount of ultraviolet light coming through.  There is a wide variety of hues to choose from including bronze, blue, gray, mirrored, and more subtle colors such as white.  The amount of sun rays able to pass through the glass is dependent on the depth of the color tinting utilized.  A 50% shade is on the paler side of film with roughly 51% of sunlight coming in the window.  Auto tint in a mid-range number such as 20% allows a bit less of those damaging sun rays through.  On the lower end are shades that allow a minimal level of light to enter. This is commonly seen on limousines for maximum security and privacy.  No matter what percent is selected, most films will prevent 99% of ultraviolet rays from penetrating the vehicle glass.

Many choose to have the film installed by a professional to avoid mistakes.  They can assist in the selection process as well determining what will best meet the owner’s needs. Highly knowledgeable specialists will also ensure that all state and local regulations are followed.  According to many states the windshield must remain without film, while the side windows closest to the driver must have more than 25% of sunlight able to enter the vehicle.  The rear glass can often be as dark as limo glass as long as exterior mirrors allow a 200 foot visual area behind the car. These regulations vary greatly from one state to another, so it is important to know the local laws regarding this type of product prior to any installation.
