A window that is tinted uses significantly less energy than structures without this added advantage.  Rooms that have had at least one window tinted are considerably more comfortable. This is due to the reduction of the harsh sun rays penetrating the glass and raising the temperature inside.  When considering purchasing this product, the method of application must be decided.  This product can be installed in a do it yourself fashion, or by a professional.

There are a few things that must be investigated prior to obtaining the materials for shading.  Before buying the material to add to a vehicle, the state laws should be consulted for vehicle regulations regarding the degree of impediment to visibility that is allowed.  Each state sets its own limits and restrictions.  Usually there are not regulations regarding homes.  However, certain types of glass cannot withstand the stress of various kinds of shading.  For this reason, checking the type of glass before purchasing it for home application is very important.

If self-installation is a consideration, a checklist of important necessities is vital to a success application.  Vehicle installation requires that the mode of transportation have a shaded, well-lit area for the duration of the process.  The space needs to have regulated temperatures between forty to ninety-eight degrees Fahrenheit for at least four days.  This environment must also be relatively dust free.  Once a proper space is secured, the right tools must be gathered.  An application solution, squeegee, low lint cloth, razor knife for trimming, and transparent tape are some of the necessary items.   If a person can obtain all the essential items, and the correct storage space for the vehicle, then a self-installation is possible.  However, if the space or equipment is lacking, then professional installation should be seriously considered.  Paying a professional for the installation can be more cost effective than purchasing each piece of equipment, and the work will be guaranteed.  Additionally, if time for working on the task is an issue, it is best to let a knowledgeable installer perform the application of the film.  The price of having a window tinted is well worth the investment.

Homes that need to have a window tinted have some of the same needs, with a few variations.  As with vehicles, the proper tools are needed and are very similar.  A sharp razor knife, tape, application solution, and a squeegee are basic tools for applying the film to any surface.  With a house, however, the installer must also make sure he has a ladder tall and stable enough to safely apply film to any elevated glass that may need it.  Much of the time, with home installations the high windows are the ones that are in most need of the extra help in blocking excessive light.  Having the right tools and equipment are not the things to contemplate.  It takes a degree of physical ability and steadiness to climb ladders and apply this type of product.  If the right manpower is not available, then it is best to hire a professional to help with the job.

For some situations where a vehicle or home needs a window to be tinted, a self-applications job is best.  However, if the right setting or manpower is not available, then it is time to call in the professionals to ensure the product performs to its utmost potential.
